Hannah Shue left her home in Michigan in pursuit of a holistic education at Wake Forest – and what she discovered was another version of home. Wake Forest prepared her for a life of service, curiosity and leadership thanks to the people she met, connected with and learned from along the way.

Today, Hannah spends her days balancing motherhood with active involvement in her family’s businesses. She is a third-generation leader in several ventures, including the National Basketball Association’s Orlando Magic franchise, direct-selling leader Amway, RDV Corporation, Baton Collective and OA Private Capital. Within her family, Hannah plays a central role by creating communication structures that enable both the family’s businesses and stakeholders to collaborate and thrive. She leverages this firsthand experience to coach and consult with other families on leadership, values and mission work, lifelong learning, transition planning and corporate governance.

Before joining her family’s office, Hannah began her career with an internship at IDEO, where she was introduced to human-centered design thinking. She carried that mindset with her into digital marketing roles at startups ALOHA, Airtime and WeWork. In 2020, she stepped away from her management role at WeWork to focus more deeply on her family’s portfolio.

Hannah devotes soul-filling hours serving with and supporting organizations such as charity: water, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Beer City Dog Biscuits, Chance Sports, Once Upon A Room and others. Her passion for entrepreneurship led her and her family to launch SpringGR, an initiative in Grand Rapids, Michigan, that empowers and equips entrepreneurs with high-quality training and coaching to start and grow profitable businesses. She is currently working on an adolescent mental health initiative aimed at elevating the conversation and fostering collaboration among parents and educators in western Michigan.

Some of Hannah’s favorite things include asking quirky icebreaker questions, walking with friends, listening to self-help podcasts and watching the sun peek through pine trees.

On the Wake Forest Board of Trustees, Hannah serves as the Young Alumni Trustee. She and her husband, Blake – whom she met at Wake Forest – have established a scholarship for first-generation students interested in entrepreneurship. They are the proud parents of two children, Dekker and Leven, and a golden retriever named Dewey. The family splits their time between Aspen, Colorado, and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
